Meet
the Designer
I
have been sewing since my early teens. I sewed clothing
and simple crafts. More recently, I had a business
making decorative flags called The Flag lady. This
made my transition into quilting an easy one.
I
was introduced to quilting several yeas ago when I
took a hand-piecing , hand-quilting class at a local
visual art center. The class was taught by well-known
quilt teacher Edith Hughes of Norfolk, Virginia.
Soon
after learning the time-honored art of hand-quilting,
a fellow quilter shared with me a new quilting technique.
It was a paper cutting method of creating quilt blocks
she had seen on "Simply Quilts" with Alex
Anderson.
I
made my first full size quilt using this technique.
After the owner of the Quilting Bee Quilt Shop saw
the quilt, I started teaching my designs. My designs
were so well received that quilters wanted to buy
them. I began writing instructions, and printing and
packaging in my home. My first designs actually contained
plastic templates I cut myself.
Three
years later I now have nearly 100 designs in my
growing collection, which include my 18" square
quilt blocks, table runners, wall hangings, and
quilted posted card patterns. My favorite designs
are the ones I cut out and I don't know what they
are going to look like until I open it up. I am
always on the lookout for new ideas.
I
enjoy doing quilt guild presentation/ trunk shows,
work shops, and store demonstrations. I also have
been a vendor at several quilt shows.
Don't
hesitate to contact me about coming to your shop
to do demos or to your local guild to do a presentation/class
or
workshop. I.am also available to be a vendor at
symposiums and quilt shows.
I
hope you enjoy the designs I have included here!
